HIM Departments
In addition to the six regions around the world where HIM missionaries serve, five departments support and facilitate various components of our ministry.
Department of Education
Christian education has always been an important part of HIM’s work. We are committed to training tomorrow’s leaders today. Our Department of Education exists to do just that—partnering with HIM missionaries and national churches around the world to help prepare and equip local Christian workers for effective servant-leadership in churches and schools. Our goal is to help teach children and youth, train lay workers in the local church, equip pastors for the ministry, and develop leaders for national churches.
Orphan & Vulnerable Children Ministries (OVCM)
HIM’s care for orphans spans from Haiti to Romania, Slovakia, and Lesotho. In today’s world millions of children are orphans or suffer abuse and abandonment. They are in urgent need of care. HIM has expanded our ministries to include community-based orphan care where children live with a trusted relative, thereby maintaining important aspects of their culture, identity, and inheritance options. We seek to strengthen and empower these family units through the local church, while diligently working to ensure intentional discipleship of the children. To help further these goals, we have also added a sponsorship program for individual children.
US Spanish Ministries
Twenty-six Hispanic churches dot the United States today—all descendants of the Spanish ministry begun by Dr. Glen Reiff. Many of the pastors are graduates of the Spanish Bible Institute. These churches continue to reproduce and expand from Key West, Florida, to Haverhill, Massachusetts, and beyond. The Department of US Spanish Ministries, led by Sidney Grant, serves as the overseeing governing entity for the Iglesias Evangèlica de Santidad.
World Religions
Christianity does not cower before other religions. We reach out to share the truth of Jesus Christ with all peoples. Many people of other faiths have moved right here to our own nation. We serve them through ministry houses, offering language education, job training, and Bible studies. We also have missionaries reaching into other nations ruled by erroneous religions. Our God is powerful to save (1 Corinthians 1:18)!
