Nichole Barr began her teaching and ministry in Mongolia in 2014, joining HIM in 2017. She is currently teaching at one of the few Christian schools in Mongolia in the city of Ulaanbaatar. Nichole oversees their after-school program, using ACE curriculum to address educational needs and important character development and to lay a groundwork of simple theology.
Working with local churches and other missionaries, Nichole participates in Bible studies and small group meetings, as well as one-on-one discipleship with former students and church members. She also participates in a weekly English club which offers free English learning to community members. English is a great tool for building and deepening relationships in Mongolia!
Nichole’s vision for the future in Mongolia is to open a language school/ community center. This facility would provide some means of in-country support and allow Nichole to offer visas to future missionaries and interns wanting to work in Mongolia. The desire is for the center to function as a school during weekdays, to offer an after-school program, and to operate as a church on Sundays.
There is a great need in the slum districts on the city’s edge where education access is more limited. By serving the community and reaching the young people, Nichole hopes that the future of these slums can change.
